People like us…

(original acrylic on canvas painting by FBC, Omnia Caelum Studios Valencia)

The world is full of people like me,

searching under streetlights for humanity,

flashing lights that reach the sky

somber faces passing by,

innocents lay snoring loudly

in their jail cells,

this just can’t be…

running fast, not running free

from the man’s brutality…

The world is full of dreamers like me,

eating from the wisdom tree,

floating high above the cities,

factories all looking pretty,

thinking ships will reach the shores

a helping hand for all aboard,

ignoring negativity,

love what you see…

The world is full of those who must run

leaving loved ones, leaving home,

walking through eternity,

feeling lost,

but dignity

walks close besides them…

The world is full of people like us

who sleep in the streets where no one belongs,

who no one remembers,

who freeze in the nights

while your heated room offers

such comfort delights.

They’re like us,

they’re still humans

yet always outside…

The world is full of people,

that is what we all are…

I can only hope that people, especially those who form part of the government of our European Union and the United States and the rest of the world, come out of this pandemic with a clean heart.

Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me, and I will be whiter than snow.
(Psalm 51:7)

THANKS!

A wonderful and very touching poem Francisco.
“The world is full of people like us
who sleep in the streets where no one belongs,
    who no one remembers,
    who freeze in the nights

The world is full of people,
that is what we all are…”
The image of people sleeping in the streets who no one remembers is haunting.
The poem is full of humanism: “that is what we all are.” Indeed. Thank you for writing such a gorgeous poem. You are a great artist Francisco.

“I can only hope that people, especially those who form part of the government of our European Union and the United States and the rest of the world, come out of this pandemic with a clean heart.”
I don’t know about their clean hearts but in certain chancelleries the geopolitics of the pandemic has already started. Those people should focus first in doing away with the pandemic but they can help themselves.

Thank you again for writing such a great poem Francisco
    un abrazo

    • Thank you for those lovely words Gabriela, I appreciate them so much because I know they come from the heart and you’ve a beautiful heart and soul. All we can do is stay strong, disciplined and with the strength of our resolve and our faith, we will continue and grow stronger. Stay well and safe.
