Spring

Spring,
I’ve missed your tender sunshine,
through this winter,
through this snow,
I’ve been waiting to devour
your bright show.
So I’ve opened wide the closet
where you’ve hidden all your charms,
I just had to have a peek,
don’t be alarmed.
Spring,
I walk to the museum,
where a painting of you hangs,
with a group of dancing figures
happy hands…
So I walk down to the barman,
and I ask for dry champagne,
if you fall in love with
me, I’ll do the same…
And I know you’ll cheat on winter,
though I think he’ll still remain,
let your answer “yes” to me be drops of rain.
And I’ll dream your warmth restores me,
and I’ll kiss your flowers new,
If you promise to love me,

I will love you.
Spring,
Bring peace to this great ocean,
and push back the raging sea.
In the end there’s no one else
but you and me.
We’ve enough of true romances,
that fall easily away,
you and I will always be
a sunny day…
Spring,
good night and may you sleep well,
I know it’s been like a storm
but the morning light will find us both at home,
where we’ve never left the comfort,
of our walls and of our beds,
Spring, has it all just been a dream
inside my head.

I gather from this poem that you yearn for spring as much as I do. We’re having a bit of snow today in North Carolina, but the crocus and daffodils are in bloom. When those flowers bloom, I know spring is surely on the way!

Hello Janet…yes! I do. Not because we have such harsh winters where I live, because we do not but Spring leads me towards my favourite time of year, Summer! No snow in Valencia, although low temps…and I am so glad that you have noted in N.C. that Spring is on the way! Hope you enjoy your weekend,
my greetings and all the best,
      Francisc

What a fabulous piece. The personification of spring is so sweet. You play with words. The words are the chords of your guitar.
“And I’ll dream your warmth restores me,
and I’ll kiss your flowers new..
    I know it’s been like a storm
but the morning light will find us both at home..”
I would love to be able to write such a sweet poem.

Yet, you left so many things at the interpretation of the reader. You are definitely playing your guitar here.
One morning the spring will be there, Francisco.
    Till then a magnificent Sunday.

Yes, I used to play the guitar and the bass when I had my own band, but not anymore, although I do think in musical terms…yes, it is all up to the reader, sin duda, and Spring always arrives, although sometimes nine months too late…
      Un abrazo mi amiga,
      F.

Francisco, I love the personification of Spring here. The entire piece is sweet. In some places it sounds innocent like the prayer of a child or a very young lover.

And I’ll dream your warmth restores me,
and I’ll kiss your flowers new,
If you promise to love me,

You play with words. You play your guitar. Words become chords.
    Magnificent.

Gabriela, I found all your comments. For some reason WP had put them all in Spam and Pending…I don’t understand why! I also found comments from others as well. The truth is that when one sends a comment one does not know if it will actually reach the person to whom you have sent it. Not good! I think this is something that WP has to work on. I did find many comments on Spam from websites, blogs, people, whatever, and who knows, which should be placed in Spam but those from WP sites should not. In any event I am glad to have found your comments. They are all beautiful and I have learned much from your insights and the explanations/interpretations you’ve given me and I greatly appreciate it! Thank you, my friend, from the bottom of my heart. I hope you get a good rest this Sunday and although I know you are skeptical of Mondays, well, it’s another day that God has made. Take good care, I cannot wait to read your next poem!
Y recibe muchos abrazos calidos de aqui del Levante,
      Francisco

I am glad you did. I really am. Now I will let you sort through everything.
Ti auguro una buona giornata 🙂
Yes, I hate Mondays 🙂 They are all dressed in black 🙂 Yet I love black.

      • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

Black, dressing in black is the Manhattan way, I used to do it there all the time…grazie mille! Spero una buona giornata, anche tu. Non parlo molto italiano ma se catalano…
Adeu i fins sempre i moltes abraçades,
        Francisco

      • short-prose-fiction · February 9, 2020

“ma se catalano…” I know you do. One of the closest languages to the Italian spoken 2000 years ago. According to some linguists closer than modern Italian.
        moltes abraçades ( I don’t speak Catalan 🙂 )

You don’t need to, your Spanish and English are the perfect vehicles for your lovely thoughts and words…

      • short-prose-fiction · February 9, 2020

Thank you. You are too kind 🙂 What about my French? What’s wrong with my French? 🙂
        excellente fin de journée
        G.

      • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

        très bien partout! Et merci…
Now, don’t tell me you also speak Russian, Chinese and Hindi!
(well, since I cannot do emojis from my portable, I will say: hehehe…)

      • short-prose-fiction · February 9, 2020

Haha! I don’t. Romance languages are my territory.
        BTW I love your French.

      • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

Thanks! But French is not my forte…Romance languages are definitely for you because those are the perfect interpreters of your thoughts. I think so too…I learned to speak English when I was a wee lad and I find it to be a perfect language as well as I have read your thoughts in English and that definitely puts English over the top!

      • short-prose-fiction · February 9, 2020

Haha! You are so sweet. Your English is definitely better than mine. I certainly learned English later in my life than you did. Wait, I need to ash what is a “wee lad”? 🙂

      • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

No, I definitely think your English is far superior to mine, after all I learned listening to the Beatles and with a British tutor… A wee lad is a young kid in American English 😉

A beautiful write and there are lots of songs that are in agreement!☕️😎☕️👍

    • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

Yes, there certainly are…Although Spring always comes, it usually gets here 9 months too late!
      Thanks!
      All the best,
      F.

Are you speaking for nature , human nature or on behalf of the U.K.

      • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 9, 2020

No, I guess it’s just my way of saying I always miss Spring time all year long…

      • America On Coffee · February 9, 2020

        Gotcha!👍💕

  8. Easymalc · February 9, 2020

Lovely words Francisco. I can’t wait for Spring to arrive now 🙂

  9. jonicaggiano · February 10, 2020

I love the playing with the seasons as lovers and the interesting phrases you use. Very beautiful Francisco. Love Joni

    • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 10, 2020

Thank you so much Joni, I am so glad that you liked the poem and the verses within. Hope you’ve a lovely and blessed week,
      Francisco

I willingly felt lost among the imagery of spring rising / waking once again —

“And I know you’ll cheat on winter,
though I think he’ll still remain,
let your answer ‘yes’ to me be drops of rain….”

    Wonderful! Heart

    • Francisco Bravo Cabrera · February 13, 2020

Thank you Felipe! 🙏🏻 I am very glad you liked it! 😊 Spring to me is very special as it opens the way to Summer my favourite station! Un abrazo amigo mío,
      F.
