Urban Legend

(“Leyenda” acrylic on canvas by Francisco Bravo Cabrera, All Rights Reserved)

I’ve lived camouflaged in a dreary existence

away from the rays of the sun.

I’ve been a ghost,

I’ve been a vision,

and my words, are the voices you heard

when your spirit yearned for a trace of lost sanity.

And you joined me in the shadows.

My presence was the poltergeist,

that disappeared from sight

when she turned on the lights,

and sat upon her Persian rug

and lit her pipe and smoked.

I’ve always faded far into these dark, dark places,

And she, who always loved the light,

refused to see

both you and me.

Then one day our shadows crossed,

and our faces were exposed

then both did burned,

as rays of yellow light turned this darkened castle bright,

and we became the things that were.

I, the ghost that was,

you, the story told,

and us, the urban legend…

These words are as beautiful as your art!

I once read that because we live in grim times, we need poetry. Beautiful words and art too. Hope the storm is over and the skies are blue again in Valencia 😊 Aiva

Thank you Aiva, and you’re so right, we need beautiful words and lovely images to rescue us from all the negative ones we see on the tele every day. Storm Gloria is gone but left the country in shambles especially the Mediterranean coast. It was a record breaking storm which we’ve not had for sixty years! All the best to you!

What, really? 🙈🙈🙈The storm was that bad, I hope no one was hurt! We had our fair share of winter storms this year, can’t wait for sunnier weather 😊

Well, me too! And yes, Valencia had 10 deaths and 4 people are still disappeared! It was bad! Take good care Aiva and have a lovely weekend!
